The need for autism disorder treatment is increasing with the
increase in the number of children suffering from autism spectrum disorder.
Autism spectrum disorder is a broad spectrum developmental disorder that
involves consistent difficulties in language, social interaction, and
communication, as well as limited/repetitious behaviors. However, symptoms may
vary from patient to patient and thus, is known as autism spectrum disorder.
The most obvious signs of autism tend to appear in an individual between 2 to 3
years of age.
Children with autism disorder usually show normal to
above-average levels of intelligence but have significant difficulties in
relating to their peers and developing relationships with them. With an
appropriate autism
disorder treatment, a parent can greatly benefit in the education and
stimulation that their child will get, helping them understand how the process
of learning and development works. In some cases, autism can be diagnosed within
18 months. The cause of autism is yet unknown, however, both genetic changes and
environmental factors play an important role occurrence of the disease.
However, at present, there is no standard treatment for
autism spectrum disorder. But there are many ways to help reduce symptoms and
maximize the abilities of individuals with autism. Speech-language therapy,
social skills training, physical therapy, parent-mediated therapy, occupational
therapy, nutritional therapy, medication treatment, joint attention therapy,
educational and school-based therapies, early intervention, cognitive behavior
therapy, and behavioral management therapy are some of the autism disorder
treatment that may help reduce symptoms and maximize the abilities of
individuals with autism.
Consistent with global trends, the number of children
diagnosed with autism disorder has also increased in Japan. The Autism Society
of Japan aims to advance the welfare of autistic individuals by supporting and
raising the concerned people as well as promoting a good understanding of
autism on behalf of the general public.
